To make it as easy as possible to integrate our solar collectors into new buildings as well as existing buildings, we have created a product that is only 83 mm thick. This is the same height as single curved and double curved roof tiles and therefore the collectors can easily integrate into the roof surface. Also, while mounting on a wall, you will be able to customize the collectors for best fit. We have several different lengths and two standard widths of 600 and 1200 mm. This is the common modular dimensions and contributes to easy and attractive integration. In addition, the appearance of the collector resemble a normal dark window. Architectural integrable solar collectors - makes it easier to find solutions that are attractive and provides an expression that is related with the rest of the building. Then renewable becomes easy to use.
The design of your solar thermal energy system depends on your energy requirements and your location. Therefore, we have developed a solar thermal energy calculator where you can calculate both the energy demand, solar energy contribution, the total cost and return on your investment. You may download the solar thermal energy calculator to make your own calculations.
Our collector is designed to absorb solar energy in a boundary layer in direct contact with the water that flows through the collector. This provides direct solar heat transfer to the water, without conductivity through any other materials and thus, you allow higher efficiency. By direct solar heat transfer and exceptionally good insulation, we utilize efficient solar energy conversion. An example of this was evident when we tested our collector in January 2010 in minus 20 degrees C and the collector gained a temperature of 105 degrees. Especially when the solar energy is low and the temperature drops in winter, you will have the great pleasure of high temperatures and maximum efficiency.
Our solar collectors have an outstanding economy - 0.05 € / kWh when the investment depreciated at 15 years, or a 100% return in 4 years if you compare with conventional energy prices. You can not get better; environmentally friendly, architectural integration and an economic gold mine. You may download the soler thermal energy calculator to make your own calculations.
We have worked hard to make the installation of our solar collectors as easy as possible. A simple installation helps reduce the time consumption and therefore also lower the bill for the solar thermal energy system. The solar collector is prefabricated and ships with mounting rails to be mounted horizontally. On a roof, the mounting rails can be screwed directly into the trusses with dense cardboard between the collector and the truss. Alternatively, you can also mount the mounting rails on top of the battens. When wall mounting, screw the mounting rails directly in the nail layers of impermeable cardboard in between. Between the collectors and heat storage you need 2 pipes of 15-22 mm thickness and a sensor wire to the collector. The pipes must be well insulated as the pipe temperatures may be up to 100 degrees C. In principle, only solar collectors, a heat storage, a pump, a solenoid valve, a control unit and pipes are required to install the entire system. Simple and predictable components enables installation as affordable as possible while errors and damages are minimized. You may read more about the system design for solar thermal energy systems.
We use pure water in the collector. Pure water has amazing properties in relation to absorbtion and transfer of heat. Water is, in addition to mercury, the liquid with the highest heat capacity. An entire 1.16 watt-hours can be stored in water per liter K, making the water very well suited to transfer and transport energy from a solar collector. Water is actually almost 10 times as efficient as steel and 5 times as effecient as sand in terms of heat capacity. Moreover, water is environmentally friendly. Using water still gives two challenges, freezing and transfer into ice, and boiling into steam. These challenges are resolved with a system controller that drains the solar thermal energy system at low temperatures and at high temperatures. In addition, the solar thermal energy system is designed to drain immediately during power outages. Using pure water, you avoid all the environmental challenges of glycol while the efficiency of the solar thermal energy system is maintained.
We have a major focus on quality because low quality is expensive and not environmentally friendly. Our goal is that all of our collectors shall last 30 years or more without any errors. Our solar collectors are quality tested before being prepared for shipment to each customer. All the components in our flat solar collectors have been tested thoroughly by our suppliers and they are also specifically tested for use in our own solar collector through tests in steam environment, simulated sunlight and heating to high temperatures over a long time.
Just as important as good quality and competitive prices is our environmental focus. We have a declared environmental profile that permeates everything from selection of raw materials and suppliers to our own working methods. Our solar collectors achieve energy balance by 3-8 months of operation. In an environmental context, this is particularly important and shows how long it takes to regain the energy for producing the product by means of solar energy from our solar collectors. 100% recyclable - that day, probably not in your lifetime, but sometime in the future, the product will be recycled back into a new solar collector of the same type. You may read more about our engagement for the environment and recycling.
We produce 6 standard sizes of our solar collectors. The collectors can connect both horizontally and vertically, so that you get the size that suits you best. You can connect up to 20 m2 of solar collectors to the same pipe supply. For larger installations you connect multiple surfaces with up to 20 m2 each. In January 2010 we began to measure temperatures in our solar collectors to get a picture of what temperatures you can expect at different times of the year. You may read more about our temperature measurements in solar collectors to see what you can expect in your own facility.
The appearance of our collectors are made with the purpose of a modern, minimalist look. We've had some thoughts about this in advance. Firstly it is important that the collectors have a look that makes the surface similar to other surfaces on the building. Secondly, it is important that the sills and the edges are minimal because it makes it easier to customize the look of the current architecture. We have chosen an aluminum edge of only 2 mm, which is primarily to protect the solar collector.
