Heat storage for flat solar collectors - HSC
Our flat solar collectors makes it possible to use various types of heat store depending on your needs.
Pressurized heat storage
In this solar thermal energy system, the flat solar collector operates with a drain back storage without pressure, while the pressurized water is connected to the larger solar heat storage so that the water is pre-heated with solar thermal energy before use. The water from the solar thermal energy circuit flows through a pipe heat-exchanger in the solar heat storage so that the solar heat is transferred from the solar collector to the solar heat storage. It is also possible to insert a pipe heat-exchanger to transfer the solar heat from the solar collector further on to an under-floor heating. As an alternative to pipe heat-exchanger you may use a plate heat exchanger.
None pressurized heat store
In this solar thermal energy system, the flat solar collector operates at a none pressurized solar heat storage. The solar heat storage is used as a combined heat storage and drain storage. The tap water flows through a large pipe heat-exchanger to preheat the pressurized water with solar thermal energy. Thereafter the water passes through your regular water heater for additional water heating, if necessary. The solar thermal energy circuit thus circulates water from the none-pressurized heat storage, through the solar collectors and back into the heat store.
The solar heat storage will reach temperatures up to 95 º C and should therefore be well insulated. The capacity of the solar heat storage should be between 50 and 100 liters per m2 of solar collectors. 50 liters requires lower investment, while 100 liters will give you higher solar thermal energy efficiency and lower cost per kWh over time.
We work with the leading manufacturers like OSO Hotwater AS to optimize the solar heat storage with high quality and proper functionality. It is possible to use other types of storage in plastic, concrete, with PCM or to accumulate storage in a borehole in combination with a heat pump.
